Remembering Misha

Mihail Bruck 1961 - 2008

We were very sad to learn yesterday morning that Misha had passed away.
He departed from this world and his loving wife Emu so suddenly that we are all
in shock and disbelief. I will always remember our kayaking together at Trinidad!

This page is a photo album of the one day I enjoyed kayaking with a new friend.
Now I wish that we could kayak again. I wish we could have more time like this...

Here is a Letter To Misha contributed by Weda Bory.

Emu and Misha visited us in Arcata, California, toward the middle of April, 2005. We had a memorable fun time. I met Emu's new husband Misha for the first time, and liked him right away. he was very gentle and good-spirited, and obviously loved Emu very much. He also paid special attention to Lazarus, who is pictured here, waiting in the car while we get snacks at the grocery.
Here, we are all posing near the little lighthouse above the harbor at Trinidad, about 15 miles north of Arcata.
Lazarus poses for the photo too, with some assitance.
Misha was very keen get into the kayaks. We only had two boats, so Emu and Wadeth hiked up around Trinidad Head and took these pictures.
We positioned the boats near the edge.
We sealed up the boats and put on the gloves. Ready to launch!
But Lazarus was coming too, and dashed out with us!
It was too scary and Lazarus returned to shore. Misha and I paddled out toward the moorings. You can click on the pictures to get the full-size image.
We paddled around a rookery of seals and talked, while Emu and Wa hiked up the steep hill.
Then the Sun suddenly appeared.
How can we learn to appreciate each other more while we have the chance?
On another outing, we went to the jetty to watch the big waves come down the channel. During the visit Misha told me some of the story of his immigration to America and the challenges his family faced.
Misha lived courageously. He visited the world, and I wish that I could see the many exotic places that he has experienced.
Lazarus dragged me around in the sand and took away my stick.
triumphant.
In our fondest memory,
Misha shall always remain.

With love for Emu and Misha's family, from Wadeth and Mark,

'Rolled in the trough of thick desire,
No oars, and no sea anchor out
To bring my bow into the pyre
Of sunset, suddenly chilling out
To shadow over sky and sea,
And the boat helpless in the trough;
No oil to pour, no power in me
To breast these waves, to shake them off'
